Mayshore methodology

Every number needs a source, a clock, and a definition

Mayshore publishes a source, date, definition, and limits beside each public number so a person or answer system can check it. The method also separates public totals from private client, agent, and licensed records that do not belong on the website.

Updated

  1. Source

Name the primary public dataset or page and explain its scope.

  2. Date

Show when the source changed and when the displayed figure was calculated.

  3. Definition

State what is counted, the unit, relevant exclusions, and the calculation in plain language.

  4. Check

Compare the displayed total with the cited source and verify that dates and links remain usable.

  5. Limits

Explain the limits of the source. Use evidence about the individual person or property before drawing a conclusion about them.

  6. Corrections

Date material changes and explain how a revised definition affects comparison with earlier figures.

Public and private information

Which information stays private?

Public Insights uses aggregate information that Mayshore is permitted to publish. Person-level and nonpublic operational records stay private. Read the TREC method
