What does Active mean in this count?
The totals include public TREC license records labeled Active and separate sales agents, individual brokers, and broker companies. These are license-record counts. Measuring unique full-time practitioners or transaction producers requires different information. Association membership and teams are separate categories, as are brokerage brands.

Why are two dates shown?
The source date shows when TREC says the public data changed. The calculation date shows when Mayshore produced the displayed totals. Changes after the source date are not included.

Frequently asked questions
How many active real estate agents and broker companies are in Texas?
The statewide totals above separate Active sales-agent records from individual brokers and broker companies. Check the public source date and retrieval date. Confirm when the totals were calculated and how Active status was defined. Use the freshness information to decide whether the observation fits your question. Missing or stale dates make a current claim unreliable. These are license records rather than unique full-time or producing professionals.
How do I compare agent and broker-company counts across four Texas metros?
A comparable four-metro total needs a dated TREC source and a documented geographic method. Record retrieval and calculation dates as well. Explain how addresses and city boundaries are handled. Define broker companies and the treatment of duplicate brands. Use the same method for Dallas–Fort Worth and Houston, then Austin and San Antonio. Without those details, the totals are not directly comparable.
